CP: Colin Peet, Marketing Manager
JS: Jeremy Stratton, Stratton Services LLC
CP: What do you do and how long have you done it?
JS: Pressure washing, window cleaning, gutter clean and other minor things. Main focus is on windows. I started my business in 2017 but I have been doing this type of work since 2007.
CP: Who would you describe as your best customer or target customer?
JS: Repeat customers, residential and commercial. Customers that are on a regular schedule. Country clubs have been my long term customers. I target customers that would like to set up repeat work.
CP: What has been the biggest impact of COVID-19 on your business?
JS: Being a new business, each year I see growth and it's great. It hit me right when it would be my busy season, so I did not get a lot of customers. Some of my regulars had to take a break for a little bit. I definitely felt it. We are still thriving and doing okay.
CP: What are one or two actions you've taken because of the pandemic?
JS: I have a lot of the same equipment for mobile detailing. Not that it's my focus, but I was able to help customers with detailing their cars. I have been able to take on some handy man jobs. It's covered under my insurance so I was able to take on some of those jobs. I have years experience so it was good to use those skills.There is money to be made... you can't put yourself in a box. If you know how to do something and you have the materials and experience and you know you can charge for it then it helps. I grew up working in the trades.
CP: What has been your biggest learning since you've been a business owner?
JS: It's all about working hard and sacrificing where you have to sacrifice. Don't forget why you started your business. Keeping an eye on things and your finances.
CP: Do you have any offers you want to include in the newsletter?
JS: Free consultation and free estimates. I also do bundle packages. I offer 15% if they choose a bundle.
CP: What is most inspiring to you right now?
JS: My wife inspires me because she is so motivational and because I have someone behind who believes in what I am doing. She pushes me to be a better business owner and it's inspiring to see how much she believes in me. Helps me to be a honest, hard worker for my family.
