CP: Colin Peet, Marketing Manager

JP: John Parks, Parks Decorative Hardware & Plumbing

CP: What do you do and how long have you done it?

JP: Our industry popped out of the 80's and I've owned this business since 2018. We are a decorative hardware plumbing outlet. Cabinet hardware, plumbing fixtures, door hardware, lighting, and specialty items that you don't find in the home centers.

CP: Who would you say is your best customer or target customer?

JP: Custom home builders or people just renovating. It's a unique product.

CP: What has been the biggest impact on your business with COVID 19?

JP: Walking through mud to get things done, we've had lot of delays. Some things are ordered last minute and then we find that it takes a while to get in. People are home more so there a lot of projects. It's also hard for us to find good tradesman.

CP: What are some actions you had to take due to the pandemic?

JP: Wearing a mask, using hand sanitizer, and distancing in the show room.

CP: What has been your biggest learning since you've been a business owner?

JP: Learning how to balance cash flow-- it's a challenge to make sure you have enough to purchase products. Learning how to deal with growth. We deal with great customers and builders.

CP: What do you find the most inspiring?

JP: The customer base we have in this area are excited to have us here, instead of buying things online. The excitement has inspired us.
