BKN: What do you do, and for how long have you been doing it?

PBA: We opened in Greensboro in December, 2017 and High Point in October, 2019. We are a shared workspace franchise – building businesses in the community. We provide offices, meeting rooms, support services, package handling, and administrative help. “Ohana” means family – and we strive to bring together an extended family – a community.

BKN: Who is your best customer or target customer?

PBA: Home-based business owners, larger companies that need to open a remote office, and now with COVID-19, anyone who wants to get out of the house and work from an office space safely.

BKN: What has been the biggest impact of COVID-19 on your business?

PBA: We lost some businesses due to COVID-19, but we also gained some new businesses. Most people went to Zoom and online meetings, so that was difficult to navigate.

BKN: What are 1 or 2 actions you've taken because of the pandemic, and how are they working?

PBA: At first, we came in once a day for the mail. We implemented sanitizing procedures and started asking wellness questions for visitors. Everyone has been very cooperative, so they are working pretty well. People are appreciative of what we are doing to provide a safe work space for them.

BKN: What has been your biggest learning since you've been a business owner?

PBA: The power of connections and community. I’ve also learned how to network effectively with guidance and help.

BKN: Any offers to include in the newsletter?

PBA: Free test drive of our office space for a week. Must be scheduled and will be based on availability.

BKN: What is most inspiring to you today?

PBA: Looking at the upheaval we’re experiencing and all facing, people are still working together in our community. I’ve been inspired by the food drives and efforts to help one another.
