BKN: What do you do?  For how long?

MF: My mom went to work for a printing company in 1935 – Rhodes Press – which we eventually owned and changed to Arts by Alexander. She died in 1996. We relocated to Greensboro Road which worked out well for us. We have added on several times. At one point we did furniture shipping, but now just picture framing and home accents. BKN: Who is your best customer?

MF: Those who hear about us by word of mouth. Our customers keep coming back and refer people to us. Our long-term relationships are our biggest business. We work with people locally and out of town. Businesses and individuals.

BKN: Biggest impact of Covid 19?

MF: It has been difficult for all. Closed for a while. Now open. Doing extra cleaning and sanitizing to keep people safe one on one – no crowds. There were some disruptions in business due to covid – but we have been surprised by the amount of business we have had through it all, because we offer good service and quality work, I believe they trust us and kept doing business with us.

BKN: 1 or 2 actions you've taken because of Pandemic?

MF: Handle each customer and their art with care. Provide safe distance for working environment and customer relations.

BKN: How are they working?

MF: Business is good, we have loyal customers, we keep going and doing all we can to keep them safe.

BKN: Biggest learning since you've been a business owner?

MF: Dealing with people. Getting to know each other and like one another and build trust with each other. Long term friendships with customers because of our level of customer service and quality craftsmanship.

BKN: What is most inspiring to you today?

MF: We are always inspired by our customers and doing the best we can for everyone who walks through the doors to our place.
